Ask God if homeschooling is right for your family in this season. Sometimes life circumstance won’t permit homeschool. Only God can assure us of what we should pursue. Seek His will diligently through prayer and study, in order to enter the homeschool journey with wisdom and peace.
Each state has different rules when it comes to homeschooling. Check your state regulations
before you start your homeschool program, to protect you and your family from unlawful activity.
Select a curriculum that fits your state homeschool laws, your home lifestyle, and your students learning style
. Some curriculums are self-taught, others require you to teach, and a few are video-based with a certified teacher instructing your student. However, you do not always have to purchase a curriculum, depending on your state. Many homeschooling parents create their own curriculum with used books and downloadable worksheets, aligned with their states requirements.
Plan your year and daily schedule, in order to have an effective year of homeschooling; each state requires a certain number of school days per year and school hours per day. In addition to instruction, be sure to maximize your plans with accurate, consistent records. Clear, concise records make it easier to plan the next year, and it keeps you ready for when the state audits your activity. Records may include attendance, progress reports and grades, quiz and test scores, and/or other state requirements.
